Summary: The Autopsy Report states:

• Gunshot wound of the left chest
• Inhalation of smoke and carbon monoxide
• No antemortem craniocerebral trauma demonstrated (i.e., no visible head injury)
• Focal charring of left calvarium and upper torso
• Advanced postmortem decomposition
• Cause of death:
  • Gunshot wound of left chest
  • Inhalation of smoke and carbon monoxide due to fire

Comment:

• The autopsy does not include an estimate of the time of death.

II. The FBI's October 8, 1993 Report to the Deputy Attorney General on the Events at Waco, Texas (cached)

Summary and Comment: The DOJ Report states:

• Identified Branch Davidians From April 19 Fire … Joseph Martinez died of smoke and carbon monoxide inhalation.  His body was found inside the bunker.  His body was identified from dental records.  He was 8 years old.

Summary and Comment: The Inquest Certificate states:

• Cause of death:
  • Suffocation due to overlay and burial in structural collapse
• Manner of death:
  • Pending investigation

This cause of death does not agree with the other two reports, wherein "suffocation" and "structural collapse" are not mentioned.
