- Entry gunshot wound of the mid-forehead (GSW No. 1)
- Exit gunshot wound of occipital region (GSW No 2)
- Old healing gunshot wound of left innominate bone (GSW No 3)
- Inhalation of smoke and carbon monoxide
- Global charring with extensive body mutilation
- Cause of death:
- Massive craniocerebral trauma due to gunshot wound of mid-forehead
The autopsy does not include an estimate of the time of death.
Summary and Comment: The DOJ Report states:
- Identified Branch Davidians From April 19 Fire … David Koresh … died of gunshot wound to the forehead. His body was found in the communication room on the first floor of the building, nearby the door. A rifle barrel was found on the floor near his body. A piece of grenade shrapnel was also found in Koresh's body, but that wound probably occurred post-mortem, when ammunition was exploding during the fire. Koresh's body was identified from dental records. He was 33 years old.
